Yes Autism Boy, there is a Santa Claus

At 8 years old, I expected to have a child who was beginning to question the magic of Santa. I can say that one of Autism Boy’s truly wonderful superpowers is his innocence. He is a believer and just like me he probably always will be. He sees the bright lights, smells the evergreen tree and longs for the moment when Santa drops down the chimney to fill his stocking.

Autism Boy is not always fond of outings but he does love the yearly trip to see the jolly old elf. Autism Boy begins planning weeks in advance. He studies books, colors pictures and plans out just what to wear. It is a huge moment for us also. It is the one photo of the year that I can count on a smile. The trip is always followed with a large cup of hot coco and freshly baked gingerbread cookie.

I hope this magical moment lasts forever.

  1. That is so sweet…your son may enjoy the “Elf on the Shelf”. I just got it this year for my boys and they are enjoying it so much.
